1) Take a Stand Against Family Violence Posters and Brochures

The main thrust of the Family Violence Prevention and Awareness Campaign will come from the posters and brochures. The Campaign Coordination Guidebook addresses how and where the posters and brochures should be distributed.

The posters reflect the imagery of the campaign and are available in English and French, with space allocated for local contact information.

There are three bilingual brochures: one for general awareness, a second for CF families, and a third for the chain of command.

The General Awareness brochure covers topics such as what is family violence, who is affected, why the CF is concerned with family violence, and where to go for support.

The Guidance for CF Families brochure includes general awareness information, highlights the many kinds of abuse and includes information on children living in violent homes.

The Role of Supervisors brochure discusses the impact of family violence on the workplace and the supervisor’s role in preventing and dealing with family violence.

As with the posters, space is allocated for local contact information on all three brochures.

2) Violence: You Can Make A Difference Fact Sheets

Based on the recommendations of the MFSP Family Violence Prevention Steering Committee, DMFS adapted a series of “Violence: You Can Make A Difference” Fact Sheets developed by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters.

These Fact Sheets, a series of practical, user-friendly “Tips for Action Against Violence” were modified with the intent  of informing and providing tips to families on how to cope with family violence, manage anger, help abused persons, devise safety plans, and get help.

3) Take A Stand Against Family Violence Campaign Coordination Guidebook

This guide was designed as a resource to fulfil C/MFRCs’ role in the campaign.  Included are recommendations and possible locations for disseminating materials, ideas for generating awareness about the campaign, and available points of contact for questions or additional assistance.

4) Violence: You Can Make a Difference is the thrust of private broadcasters' dynamic, nationwide campaign to deal with the problem of violence in our society. The television and radio spots were funded by the federal government departments of Canadian Heritage, Health, Justice, Status of Women, Human Resources Development, National Defence, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
