National Employment Awareness Template
The Halifax and Region Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is piloting the National Employment Awareness Template. The template will include national employment resources and an awareness campaign designed to enlighten local and national businesses on the benefits of hiring military family members.
The template will be designed to be integrated into the new common look and feel for all Canadian/MFRC websites. This way, no matter where Canadian Forces (CF) families are located, they will have access to a standard set of employment resources through a website that is easily recognized and navigated. The template will also include lots of opportunities for local C/MFRCs to customize their information and include employment resources that are tailored to their region’s unique job market.

Nationalizing Job Search Resources
For their pilot project, the Trenton MFRC will expand upon their Job Shop program to create an online job search and match tool that can be used by all C/MFRCs. This project will ease struggles when seeking employment in a new posting for CF families by providing a common yet customized resource to connect them with useful, comprehensive job hunting tools.
The pilot project will provide a standard set of national job search resources, as well as customizable sections for C/MFRC Employment Coordinators to add information about the employment resources, job offers and job seekers in their area. Through the pilot, Trenton will determine which national employment resources should be included, and how to best ensure that the program can be customized to meet the diverse needs of all C/MFRC locations’ job seekers and job markets.
To maintain a united vision for enhancing CF family employment services, the pilot projects completed in Halifax and in Trenton will be complementary. The Virtual Job Search/Match program is envisioned as a key resource included on the National Employment Awareness Template.
