Hosting
Canada has a strong history of hosting CISM events. As a CISM member nation, Canada feels that it is very important to welcome other participating countries and promote “Friendship through Sport” as well as Canadian culture. To show support for the CISM program Canada aims to host one CISM event each year.

Past Events
World Military Taekwondo Championship
Canada hosted the 19th World Military Taekwondo Championship in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec from July 14-21, 2010. Approximately 200 athletes from 21 countries competed for the medals at the championship.
CISM Club
Canada hosted a CISM Club at the 2010 Winter Olympics from February 12-28. CISM Club was located in the heart of Whistler Village at Canada Olympic House and provided a meeting space for all CISM delegates who participated or attended the Games. CISM Club also promoted "Friendship through Sport" and highlighted the involvement and success of military athletes in the Olympics.
World Military Swimming and Lifesaving Championship
Canada hosted the 43rd World Military Swimming and Lifesaving Championships in Montreal, Quebec from August 5-14 2009. Approximately 200 athletes from 17 countries made the trip to Montreal to compete in beach and pool lifesaving as well as swimming events.
World Military Golf Championship
From August 17-23, 2008 100 military golfers from 14 nations hit the links at Hylands Golf Course in Ottawa, Canada for the 5th World Military Golf Championships.
Women in CISM Week
On June 15th, 2008, Canada welcomed more than 90 participants from around the world to CFB Kingston and to the Royal Military College for the first ever “Women in CISM Week”. Organized by Canada and the Women in CISM Americas Committee (WICA) the week consisted of a symposium led by female leaders in sport, discussions and work groups to address women’s issues in military sport as well as numerous sport competitions.
Board of Directors Meeting
Canada hosted the CISM Board of Directors meeting December 3-7 2007. During this meeting the 15 members of the Board of Directors reviewed policies and procedures, finances and approved the upcoming world event calendar.
CISM Americas Soccer Championship
Esquimalt, British Columbia acted as host for the CISM Americas Soccer Championship February 16-24. Teams from Barbados, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States joined Canada to determine the representative for the 2005 Military World Soccer Championships.
World Military Volleyball Championship
CFB Kingston played host to the 26th World Military Volleyball Championships in June 2004. Men’s and women’s teams from Germany, the Netherlands, China, the United States, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Latvia, Cameroon, Greece and Italy all competed for the world title.
