Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) Distinguished Acheivement Award

   

Selection Criteria 

The CDS Distinguished Achievement Award was created to recognize an individual from the Staff of the Non Public Funds, Canadian Forces, who has had a positive and substantial impact, directly or indirectly, on the Canadian Forces or the Canadian Forces Community by:

1. displaying a high degree of innovation, creativity, perseverance or ingenuity in the design, development, and implementation of a program or initiative; and/or

2. reflecting exemplary credit on the Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Supoprt Services (CFPFSS) and its employees through leadership, commitment to service, enthusiasm, sustained performance, and continued professional development.

Nomination Procedures and Approval

Nominations must be in writing using the CDS Award Nomination Form. This form is classified as a PROTECTED B document on completion.

This award is intended for employees in all Divisions (CANEX, SISIP FS, PSP, including Base Funds, Finance, HR, CFO, COS and CIO). Nominations for the CDS Distinguished Achievement Award should be balanced with other awards, such as the CEO's Award of Exceptional Merit and others from the NPF Employee Recognition Program. The nomination must indicate why this award is the most appropriate form of recognition.

Nominations for this award are to be signed-off by the Division Head or B/W Comd, as applicable. The CDS Distinguished Achievement Award is presented annually based on the fiscal year April to March. 

Nominations are to be submitted by 28 February of each year for the previous year.  Employees selected for the award will be notified in May of each year.

Selection Method

The VP HR chairs a Selection Committee to review all nominations and submit recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the names of those employees who, in the opinion of the committee, fulfill the conditions of the award.  The CEO may also select worthy employees for this award, at his/her discretion.

The CDS will present recipients with their certificates at the DND Awards Ceremony.
