DGPFSS Respectful Workplace Campaign

On December 10, 2008 DGPFSS launched a Respectful Workplace Campaign called ‘Be the Change’ in honour of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This foundation document forms the basis of all our human rights. It was written by a Canadian, John Peters Humphreys. It is the most translated document in the world. The universal significance of this document is something to be very proud of.

This Dec 10, and throughout the holiday season, take a moment to reflect on all our rights, freedoms and protections we cherish here in Canada. The right to freedom of opinion and expression, the right to obtain an education, to earn a living and to own property, the right to access health care, the right to life, liberty and personal security, the right to freedom of movement and so much more. When basic human needs are unmet, a deep sense of frustration can occur and conflict inevitably arises.  That is why the protection and exercise of our rights is so important to every Canadian.

Thank you to all those who participated by sending in their responses of how to promote a more positive and respectful workplace!  It has been an amazing year and we hope that the message of RESPECT will be a reminder to everyone how we can promote a healthy, happy workplace. Remember, you can be the change you want to see.
