Trim Our Tree Campaign Raises $8,000 for MPFBC

The Canadian Forces community has once again demonstrated its generosity through its participation in the CANEX Trim Our Tree campaign in support of the Military Police Fund for Blind Children (MPFBC).

"We are pleased to announce that donations increased by more than 30 per cent, raising $8,000 for MPFBC," announced Brian Tweedle, Director, Merchandising and Marketing, CANEX. "We sincerely thank all CANEX patrons who purchased Trim Our Tree paper ornaments which were used to decorate Christmas trees at all CANEX locations."

The MPFBC is operated entirely by Military Police volunteers and has no paid employees. All funds raised are used to benefit visually impaired children. Members of the Military Police, including other military and civilian community members, become personally involved with the blind children, visit them in their schools, and invite them to Canadian Forces bases to learn more about the Canadian Military.

"The money donated goes towards specialized computers, horseback riding, music and ballet lessons or summer camps. Lifestyle enhancement and individual education items are some of our top priorities," affirmed Lieutenant Colonel Gilles Sansterre, Chairman of the MPFBC Board of Directors. "We help about 150 visually impaired children every year and Trim Our Tree campaign definitively contributes to our fund."
